Does anyone actually know if this K&N filter makes a better performance increase...

Seriously though K&N has been known to make filters, just to say they have them and not increase, but actually decrease performance...

For example. My buddy has a 00' Yamaha YZF R6.
He took his bike on the dyno with a stock filter and a K&N air filter. The results were not impressive. THe bike actually lost horsepower form the K&N. I can't remember the exact numbers right now, but I believe it was somewheres around 6-8 Hp.
This is probably becuase the K&N do not do extesnive testing as Yamaha would have and it did not fit as exact as the stock does.

Anyone have any input regarding this. K&N does do good jobs for most models however, I am just curious about the SV's

I don't know about the carbed models, but on the FI bike it isn't a huge amount of difference. You will notice a very slightly more responsive throttle but that's about it. The main benefit is that it's reusable.

I'd look at the BMC Race RS if I were you... The K&N won't give you a huge difference in performance.

As for will you need to rejet/remap, ask yourself what would be the point if you didn't :) The main point of a performance filter is to pass more air, which in turn means you need to pass more fuel, so if you didn't need more fuel then logically, you're not passing noticably more air. You can maybe get away without it, but IMO at best you're wasting your money if you do that, and at worst you could run damagingly lean if you're unlucky.
