How low is too low

I just bought an SV650, I lowered it and I think it is perfect, but my boyfriend is concerned that it is too low. So my question is how low is too low?

By what method(s) did you lower it? Dog bones and a yoke-drop?

As long as nothing touches or rubs when the suspension is fully compressed there should be no issue.

What scoobs said, but there is also a problem with the side stand. If you go to low, then the bike will not lean onto its stand. This can cause problems on roads with cambers, or in high winds.

Go for an 3/4 inch drop on the yokes, lowering kit at the rear (Longer dog bones and a cut seat, and you should be fine.

We have a few munchkins on the site and thats about waht they have done.

As a fellow munchkin I've had my sv lowered (dog bones) and my seat lowered. You just have to be a bit more careful judging speed bumps and curb heights if u need to drop down off one. :D

My bf reckons the bike's handling is worse as a result of this but even if I knew any different I'd just adapt. The bike's perfectly rideable as it is and I've no problems. In fact it was a relief to get everything lowered as being able to (mostly comfortably) reach the ground helps A LOT.

Thanks for the advice guys!! I feel a bit more at ease. I am a new rider so my knees won't be touching anytime soon. Yes handling may be a bit different for most riders but if you have nothing to judge it against then it is fine. I did lower the forks and also had to cut down the stand due to the fact that the bike was pretty much straight up and down when the kick was out....much better now!

Thanks again!
