Ive had a claim against me from driving a car but i havnt ever told ym bike insurers. ive been through 2 crashes on the bike and it hasnt ever come up.
this has got me thinking if i should tell them about my crashes at all? i have no doubt they wont pay out if they found out but how likely r they to?
should i tell them abnout a crash which wasnt my fault?

and lastly, what do u do? anyony lie? ever heard of anyone getting caught for not giving the whole truth and then being done for no insurance?

if my policy was only a matter of a few hundred i wouldnt even think about lieing, but as its the difference of about £900, its alot to think about!

I would only inform the insurance company if I'd had a crash involving another vehicle or was hospitalised. You see their view is that if I've crashed then I'm a greater liability and they up my premium. My view is that if I've crashed the I've learned something, have become a better rider and the premium should go down. Obviously if I kept crashing then that wouldn't hold true but I'm sure you see what I mean.

are they crashes taht actualy involved the insurance company. or crashes that youve just picked the bike up abnd rode off from. if an insurance company was involved i would deffinetly tell them. if they were to find out then you really would have shot yourself in the foot, but if the insurance company never knew about the crashes in the first place then i wouldn't bother.

Spot on. If the matter has gone through an insurance company, fault or not you're really risking it not telling them. If no insurance company was involved, i'd certianly not say a word.

Statistically you are more likely to have an accident in the 3 years following an accident than in the same period if you haven't had an accident (does that make sense?)

ie Jonboy is wrong - accidents make you worse!.

I would only declare accidents that went to insurance, but not those that I sorted outside insurance

anyone heard of anyone getting caught?

both my crashes happened after i had a claim against me in my car where an insurance company was used. i never told them about my car crash and it was never mentioned.

should i tell them about these crashes:

i over cooked a turn and crashed. broke my collar bone and got paid out for my bike as i was fully comp.
no other cars etc involved.

2nd one: driver pulls out infront of me and the bike is written off. i get paid out for the bike and he gets done by the police.



reeading those i can tell what people r gonna say, tell them about it.
but my insurance is insane! im 22 and spending 2k on insurance aint my cup of tea!!!
not only that but i cant ever afford to claim again anyway. Whatever crash i get into ill have to pay myself or i wont be able to afford to ride again.
and if that happened i can see why people ride without insurance.

If you have claimed on insurance then declare it - Insurance companies compare notes and will find out - they all seem to know about my 3 points!

If your premium is as high as that then it may be worth considering advanced lessons, more security, giving up booze.....but don't lie!

Couldn't agree more, always tell, then you can sleep at night.
