Melted brake line ooeerrr

I have just realized that my high level pipe work has melted into the rear brake line. I have now made the necessary adjustments to make sure that there is clear air between the two. Now concerned that I will have to replace it.

The outer hose is well and truely melted but the don't think the inner hose is damaged. Should I replace or will it be OK :?:

probably only cosmetic, but better to replace.

I don't think heat could have damaged the line. I am assuming they are braids?

I thought the rear line has a plastic outer sheath down a chunk of its length - is it that wot's melted? If so, I think it's only there to stop chafing of the pipe.

Then you thought wrong, they are standard lines.

Yes but it has melted quite a way in. My worry is that it has melted the inner hose as well.

...pretty certainly an MOT failure anyway

Treat yerself Ape..go for a braided line if having to go to the trouble of replacement. 8)

I had the same happen with my twin renegades. Never got to the inner so left like that. Passed MOT with no probs.

If you need to change I might have a spare rear you can have.

Safety critical ?  . Oh well I suppose it is if you use the back break but BigApe doesn't use his :).

Trust me it's knackered. The same thing happened to me. When the high-level Remus was fitted it was touching the brake line (cheers Nick  ) and although you could see it was slightly melted it seemed fine. Until I took Mrs jonboy on the back and used the rear brake in earnest and it went pop slooshing brake fluid all over the rear wheel/tyre.

Just change it ;).
