Where does the unit the restrictor kit plugs into 'live'?
Come on chaps... need your help now!? u remember I opened that ole can of worms about restriction the other week... well scrap that, let's get practical!
I've got my 'soon to be sluggish' yellow banana SV650... now I better fit the restrictor kit - genuine suzuki little black box with a 44 pin male plug approx 3" in width that needs to plug into something. Someone told me that it plugs in underneath the seat, but I've unbolted that.. and there is nothing remotely similar for it to fit into? Can anyone shed some more light on this.... urgently?! (bike is gradually getting into more bits in the garden!) Cheers |
it is a pointy isn't it?
because the ecu is under the seat on my K4 if it isa curvy you need to put some washers in |
it's not a pointy or a curvy?!... It's a black box about 4" by 4" and 1/2" deep at one end and about 1" deep at plug end.. god now I'm really confused

As your obviously a woman of good taste, having a K4, yellow SV... and the fact my bike is currently in a bazillion pieces...i've taken a couple of piccies for you.
It's just behind the battery box... http://www.rowe-adsl.demon.co.uk/bike/pics/ECU.jpg http://www.rowe-adsl.demon.co.uk/bike/pics/ECU2.jpg Hope that helps. Dan |
Dan your a little darling!
I'm not looking quite so blonde now!!! Many thanks... now get ur bike back together!! lol |
ok, I've removed battery... and it's a sealed black tray?! no sign of anywhere to plug in... anyone get anymore ideas. Its a 2002 SV650s sports twin.... have I got to do something different?
.... getting fed up now, just skinned my knuckles... humph |
I've got the wrong restrictor kit for my bike haven't I....?!
|
Then we've found your problem. You have the wrong restrictor for your bike. The 2002 is the last of the carbed bikes, they can't be done with just an electronic box.
When you were asked if you had a pointy one, they were talking about the bike, the 2003 onwards were pointy shaped and had fuel injection, which can be restricted electronically. |
Thanks again all....
I am but a newbie, both to bikes, Suzuki, and riding, so all this is dead useful, even if a little humbling.... no doubt I'll be speaking to you all soon about my 'rounded' one  |
this is a curvy bike-
