Am I the only person who thinks its a good idea?

Hi Patch posted this thread about the Unity Ride thats happening at the end of the month.

I am intrigued by the lack of responses. Personally I think that it’s a great way for London’s biking community to show its compassionate side and maybe help alter the general publics negative views of bikers.

Why does nobody else think that this is a good idea? Is there anyone here who thinks its a really bad idea?

Personally I don't see how terrorism and bikes are related. To me it seems like an altruistic and self-gratifying gesture. Not saying peeps shouldn't go on it, just that it's not for me.

You’ve confused me a little with the altruistic comment. It seems a bit contradictory to say something is selfless and self-gratifying. Do you see altruism as a bad thing?

Not in itself no, but it's frequently used as a reason to overcome common sense, making the cause greater than the means which in real life generally ain't so.

hey WB phil, not see you in a while. You and Anna riding again? coming to Soho at some point, on a bike?

Magoo 03-08-05 01:23 PM

<Highjack>
Yep we are still riding, though seem to get very little opportunity at the moment! We are only on one bike though as mine finally got written off after the Nov 2004 accident and the one we are on is not even ours as I stopped at a red light on my way into work last week and the off duty copper behind me didn't so Anna's bike is in for repais and I have a brand new VFR800i to play with!

Will try and get down to Soho sometime over this summer so will keep you posted.

Back to the thread...good to see Oneiros and JonBoy have taken their Red Crdas seriously! :lol:
