From country to City ..!

Hi all..

I have recently moved to London from the countryside of Somerset (last month)..
I have to say that the style of riding is far more different then I ever realised in London compared to what I have been used to.

Unless I am missing something, all I seem to be constantly doing is going from one set of traffic lights to another, being uncomfortably bounced over speed humps every 100 meters and how courteous are the car drivers (non-existent) ..!!.

I have had it far too comfortable during the last three years, with the wide open roads, smooth tarmac and those Sunday car drivers who would almost swerve up the embankment to let you past..

I admire all you London guy’s and girls who do the daily trek through the capital (my heart is with you !!)..

J.

P.s… Can you recommend any good insurance company’s (NW5 area) ..?
Thanks..!

Sounds about right to me. Try to use your legs as part of the suspension, it helps to smooth out the bumps.

Hi Egg,

I think you've pretty much summed it up! However, persevere, you'll get used to it after about a year! If you're up in NW5, then you're surely not a million miles away from many of the familiar and friendly faces on here - myself included. I insist that you attend a Soho meet very soon.

I guess you're working here too - whereabouts?

As for insurance, I got what I thought was a stupendous deal from HR Insurance (www.insurance2000.co.uk) for 3PFT in Islington. This covered the bike parked outside on a public road, and recognised the Alphadot and Abus disc lock as security devices. With 1years NCD, and one accident, 26yo with 1 years riding - about £500, was a good deal.

Yup, welcome to the metropolis. I do at least 50 lights on my commute. It's only 16 miles!

Welcome BTW!

Welcome dude. Watch some ghostrider dvd's for london riding tips ;)

Insurance is all about when you call them not who you call. It still dont hurt to do the big ring around!!

I shall defo keep an eye on Soho meet dates and attend real soon .. !!

I’m currently commuting on my bicycle to Kensal along the canal.. You may laugh “a cycle” but assure me, the canal has its own hazards with nutter cyclist’s and drunks hissing at you..!! However office is moving to Hammersmith towards the end of next week which means I’m likely to be using the SV more often .!!

Keep safe ..
Egg.
