nails in the road
 

ive recently done a allroud service on my sv to find a nail in my rear tyre
i have the motrax slime in both tyres but still im worried what do u think is the best thing todo beside get a new tyre..

im going to scotland on my bike for bank holiday weekend and havent got any spare cash for a new tyre.. help!!!

if you dint know what i ment by the slime the slimy stuff u put in to stop puncture's

Depends on how many miles the tyre has alreeady covered. And then it depends on you, would you feel confident doing 800 miles knowing that there's a hole in your tyre? :-k
If I were you I would ride to your dealer, take the nail out and check for any loss of pressure once you're there, then you can decide wether to change the tyre.

i just bought a new rear......

you will find the stock tyres are z rated for high speeds... so repairs are not reccommended

I have riden tens of thousands of miles with plugged tires, potential for catastrauphic failure of a plug is less than chances of another road hazard ripping your tire off

plug it, keep an eye on the pressure a few days to assure yourself it's not leaking, then don't worry about it, ride the tire till it's worn out

i (My Mum) has just found a nail in my tyre, and i have a long ride on sunday!

i would get it plugged but its near the end of it life so i am going to put a new 1 on tomoz at work.

i have to ride it 5 Miles to work (just done 4 on it)

Aye, no point patching an old tyre, it's more work than it's worth.

AS for the slime stuff, I had Ultraseal in my last set... I picked up a hole in the rear at some point which patched itself without ever being evident- I check my tyres every couple of hundred miles and I'd never seen it, and had no severe pressure drop. Now, it could have happened the day before it was discovered (by my dealership, when they took the tyre off before the wheel was coated) or if could have happened any time in teh previous 6000 miles- and it was absolutely fine. It's got a proper plug in now- no reason not to while the tyre was off- and I've got no doubts about it in the slightest.
