Resistor in Ignition switch. Immobiliser
Hi
Does any one know of a resistor in the ignition switch or ignition circuit that acts as an immobiliser?? I am having trouble starting. It is like the ignition circuit is immobilised. Everything else is ok???? |
Is it a curvy or pointy?

Boy it did my noodle for 2 days    Bloody cluch!
I would guess thats why there's a hand book  |
mine was the kill switch, didn't realise I'd knocked it. spent 1/2 hour pulling my hair out!

Jocky, it is possible if not probable that there is a resistor in the ignition barrel itself. It's an anti hotwire measure Suzuki used in the bandit/gsxr etc. and I'd be very surprised if the SV doesn't use the same method.
However unless you're trying to hotwire this bike of 'yours' that is not the problem. Know anyone near u with a curvy SV? Get a loan of their CDI, swap them and see if that is the problem. |
SV Resistor
Hi
Thanks for the info regarding the resistor in the ignition barrel. This may be my problem as the bike is a stolen recovered. The ignition was missing when i got the bike and i have replaced it with one from a breakers. I am told it is the correct ignition. I will check. Do you know the size of resistor and its exact location???? Cheers Jocky |
