End of an era?
 

Hi all, just a short tale of my off yesterday - and I am in many ways happy to be here!
I was out riding on the lovely backroads north of Copenhagen with a good mate. The afternoon had been going well, and our speed was increasing as bike and riders got warmed up.
Then, running out of a small village, I open up, and one sharp right hander, then lined up for the next - and blew it! I think I target fixated at the wrong place, lost my focus for a split second, and before I know what was happening I was on my way across the road at 80 km/h (thank god there wasn't a car coming the other way!!) and the last thing I remember is hitting the edge of the road going into (again thank god) a grassy field - and which lay about 1 meter below the road surface. Next thing I know is that i am sliding face down across the field behid the bike, and I stop just behind it - 20 meters into the field. I gues there must have been some "air time" as the point of impact was a ways into the field.
Damage report:
Bike (black SV650SK4, with hugger, undertray, blue flame evo3 exhaust) - all the plastics on the front cowling - disintigrated; radiator - broken off; right rearset - snapped in half; and probably a bent frame....
Rider - who was in his full leathers, back protector, gloves and boots - sore thumb, aching muscles everywhere and a small bruise on my right hip - worst of all is the mental "bruise" - for being such an idiot.
I think the words "completely, totally, undeservedly lucky" could be used as a summary - it could just as easily gone the other way!
Thanks for reading so far - just a part of my "therapy" in getting to grips with what happened and trying to figure out if I am getting back up on a bike again....

Lucky you have grassy fields to slide into, here it's called dry stone walling :?
If the frames bent the bike's a goner, how's your insurance package?

Insurance isn't the biggest problem - I have a total coverage with a deductable of approx. £300 - even covers the wreckers driving the bike to the dealer. I'll find out over the course of the next few days what the bikes status is - but guess the season is over for me (and possibly for good) the ache in my body and brain is rather considerable!

I'm sure most of us have felt like quitting after a serious wipe out, it does pass. In fact a couple of weeks from now you'll be in the cage/ on the bus or summat and a biker will whip past effortlessly and you'll get the bug again.

I know its hard to do but its best to get on a bike as soon as you can!
