SV1000S Fully Faired

I know there are a few on this site who have or have upgraded to the
1000 so can somebody tell me the true top-end and what sort of fuel consumption when cruising/touring

Thanks

Mac

By all accounts the true top end is 150 (indicated 160/165) and the fuel consumption is an order of magnitude higher than the 650.

The thou will definitely be my next bike and you'll love it Mac, take one for a test ride  .

Mac

Can't tell you the top end (yes I'm a feardy-cat for my licence  ) but when cruising on the 1000S I'm getting warning light about 110-115 miles, and have taken it to 155 before fueling once (riding really gently for the last 20 miles, was about 1.5 L left at that point). I'm not that agressive a rider though. For comparison I was getting 135 to flashing light on my Y 650S, and had done 160s before fueling.

I've had my SV1000S for nearly a year now and I'm very pleased with it.
Top end i've had 145 mph on the clock and as for fuel consuption I'm getting about 130 - 140 miles out the tank to the reserve light coming on.
You may find more information at. the following SV1000 site.

As per

I have found one of the few remaining sv1000sz's and I am SORELY tempted to go and give him my pound deposit £6ooo for cash? good or bad? only thing is selling the 650 as there seems to be a few about at the moment and although mine is still under warranty till Dec it has 13000 on the clock For Sale £2995 anybody interested?

I don't think you'll regret buying it, particularly in those snazzy colours and lowers that the SZ has. However I reckon your price for the 650 is a little top heavy considering the state of the market at the moment (if you don't mind me saying so).

On my 1000S I get about 110 to 125 miles before the light comes on. I then get paranoid and fill up asap to find I still have about 5 litres left. Top speed I've had indicated is 145mph and it still had a bit to go. The SV was not that stable at that kind of speed compared to the only other "fast" bike I've ridden which was a ZX6R. The SV is afterall a sporty bike but not a sports bike. The way in which a bike delivers it's power and the handling should be a far more important consideration than merely top speed.
