I hate sv's....

...more or less because I just tried one...and want an sv instead of my hornet. My hooner is a quicker bike but the sv has 'soul' :(

Hardly ideal since I've only had the hornet for 2 months.

Do you get many folk wanting to sell their sv's for bikes like hornets?

I don't know anybody... when you DO sell the Honda for a bike with a bit of soul, swap all the fasteners over...

He never had an SV. He testrode both and preferred the hornet.

Er, me

But I crashed my SV and would have had another but Mrs wasn't keen. So (via a bike I shan't mention) I ended up with a Hornet.

A bike with soul? A microwave with soul? When do you buy a fridge because although unreliable...it has soul. I often get the impression that Honda build bikes to show how clever they are...that is why I didn't buy the Hornet or the CBF600. Too surgical...I was watching a programme called big big bikes on discovery or summat...about the MV Agusta...the people who designed it..built it..tested it...love it...and part of this love is retained in the bike. Just like Concorde...far more than a big pointy noisy thing..perhaps this is where 'soul' comes from. A person has designed something as art rather than function. But it still functions.
Whether a mass produced V-twin has soul needs a theology scholar and a large grant to solve. But then, a Deauville also has a 650cc V-twin. If it is purely an engine config thang...then the Deauville will have 'soul' too.

It's not just an engine config thing.
For me what defines it is when I'm riding it, it feels like it's joining in the fun rather than just being a tool for going very fast.
Alot of people say guitars are the same, some have something extra that the others don't always have.

well I call it character.

something the SV has that my CBR or the CBF didnt have. Whether thats a combination of the engine braking, the torque and power output that makes it different I dont know. But theres something different and I for lack of being able to sum up why I love the SV over the CBR refer to it as character. :D

Character...that's what I meant. I always knew I'd like an SV and was saving up for one but impatient me had £1500 sitting in the bank and I saw the hornet. It now looks good with twin can's and spotlights.

Just doesn't ride like an faired sv. Much more composed at say 90mph. Feels like you're ragging the tits off the hornet when doing 90mph, which isn't what I'm used to (had an er5 before)
