NEW chain n sprockets
My new chain and sprockets arrived this morning! :)
however.... i count 15t front and 49t rear?? and a 110 link chain!?? will the chain be long enough before i go to the legnths of fitting it?? :( I hope so wasnt a bad price tho, £72 for iris gold plate x-ring chain and techcorps sprockets somebody please give me some good news :) |
49 TEETH?
I think it is 44 for a faired and 45 for an unfaired. 49 sounds a bit much. 108 links for 44 teeth and I think 110 for 45 teeth using a 15 tooth front sprocket. Chain "may" be a little short. |
I think the chain length will probably be okay as I run a 46 T rear with 110 links and there's plenty spare.
However do understand that a 49 tooth sprocket will give you a top speed of 57 mph but will allow you to get there in 0.5 secs - oh and you only wear out the rear tyre as the front never touches the ground  . Seriously, you've been sent the wrong sprocket, is it a 525 pitch? . |

Its a compromise but id be up for that 8) |
i ordered it as a kit for my year and model and this is what i recieved :(
yes its 525 pitch |
well fingers crossed the chain will be long enough, so ill give it ago! at least my old front tyre will last the life of my new rear now
and if i dont like the ratio then whats £20 for a new rear sprocket So long as i can push a ton so i can sit comfertabily at 90 on the motorway, as im off down to high wycombe next week |

Let us know how you get on as I don't know of anyone else with 49 teeth (if you see what I mean) ;). . |
If you can get a 110 link chain around a 49 tooth sprocket, I'd be surprised.
110 links is fine for a 45t sprocket... but for 40t? It'd be tight! |
ive always found that chains come as a standard length when you buy them and you just take links out when you fit them.
49t sounds bloody huge though, your gonna go through your gears pretty fast and run out of your powerband a bit sooner than you might have liked. it'll be easy to get the front end up though so that should be interesting. i was considering doing this myself but not for too long, just to see what it was like. there arent many drawbacks to using a larger rear sproket though, have fun TRICK |
110 links is fine for a 45 too sprocket... but for a 49t?
My DID chain was 112 links, and two had to be removed for my 45t sprock. |
