visor questions.

is there a difference between a black visor, and a race black visor ?

anyone know where i can get a purple visor from ?

i currently have an iridium visor - which is good, but when its really bright - i only see the reflection of my face in the visor when riding.. . would a matt black visor not do this ?

im a bit confused when it comes to different visor options.

also - where is a good place to get visors from ?

cant be 100% sure but i think there is a diffrence with a race visor, i have a black visor on a craft carbon rx10 and its great no reflection and fits well....when it comes to places to buy visors it really depends on what lid you have and personel prefrence.....designerhelmits.com do a good range.

I found mirrored ones cause a bit more reflection. Black ones seem fine to me. I get mine from the www.visorshop.com

I have a genuine Shoei dark tint visor on order from these peeps:

http://www.visorsworldwide.com/

I ordered mine via eBay but could have got the same deal at this website - free p&p from channel islands.

Will post when it arrives and let you know what it's like.

Hows that for timing - less than 15 mins after my last post the visor turned up -

first impression, it isn't sunny but outside there is some reflection - I don't wear glasses when I ride (put contacts in) but to try the visor I put it on with my glasses and I could if I tried see the frames reflected.
I dont think that the reflection will be much without the glasses.

an actual race visor will probably have 'posts' on it where the tear off's attach to. these r for bugs etc.

but chances r if it says race visor then it probably just means its not meant for the road, i.e. its not road legal.

i have a dark tinted visor from arai and it doesnt reflect myself at all. it does however look damn cool.

For a visor to be leagal it has to conform to BS4110 which means it lets at least 50% light through. It also ensures a particular level of scratch resistance. (source BMF Fast facts)

Road legal visors aren't that black when compared to a (illegal) race visor, have a look here for some comparisons:
