tyres, brakes and the like!

had a pair of continental road attack tyres fitted today. Most of my miles are commuting in London though i do go for the occasional country thrash. Opinions??

Also when the fella was fitting the front tyre he noticed that the front brake pads were wearing unevenly - apparently due to the dust cover slipping or something?? he said it gonna cost £90 to put right or i'll warp the front disc. Opinions??

if the dust seals go you will find out the hard way as I did that it hurts if it gets so bad the brakes bind.

basically if the dust seals corrode you will find the brakes will come on but cant go back in when you release. this wont necessarily warp the discs - mine arent. but it will lock the wheel and you will go over if you have brand new tyres on  :?

not sure about the cost - got mine done by a mate.

re your tyres. never had them but shouldnt be a problem. its when you do a lot of motorway miles you will start to have problems with tyres squaring off. :D

Try this thread: Here.

The tyre fitter means that the outer brake seal is being dragged out of it's recess, this usually occurs if the brakes haven't been kept clean and there is a build up of crud on the pistons, when this happens the pistons don't retract as they should, the brakes drag and the pads wear quicker than they should.
The calipers will have to be dismantled and cleaned, preferably new seals will be fitted.
