Helmet touch up paint - safe to do?

Help. Dinked the Arai a while back but it's been passed safe and just needs a touch up on the chip. I've asked before but I'm still getting conflicting opinions so does anyone know for sure if it's safe to do without affecting the structural integrity of the helmet?

Just checked the Arai site, they have an FAQ section that says painting the lid is ok.

www.arai.com click on the european section...

It does however, say to check your helmet's manual.

The guy on the Shoei service truck in the BSB paddock told me that I was best using car touch up paint on my scuffed Shoei, as there's a large variety of colours available and they're nice & thick with a good finish, as well as being easy to work with... Cheap too!!

I can't imagine an Arai is going to be any different!!

Yeah, should be all good. I glued my old AGV when it fell onto a tile floor from about 8 feet. And then I crashed twice, once nutting a sign at about 20mph, and it stood fine.

Well it's done now so let's hope it's good :)

Glad to have a mostly black Reynolds paint job. Made it very easy to get a match :)

But remember your CBT folks, don't paint a plastic lid, strictly fibreglass/kevlar only.

You're kidding. I've been to bed since then.

All I need now is some rubbing compound to smooth it over again. Do Halfwits do it?
