Snorkel? Confusion...

Hi guys,

Been hearing a lot about 'snorkels' on SV's, and people taking them off their bikes (I think).

I was just wondering, what the hell is a snorkel, and whats the advantage of taking it off?

Yeah it is a bit confusing. A snorkel is a pipe that sticks out an down from the air box, that stops water from getting in mainly. It's of a certain size so making it bigger or removing it should hopefully suck in more air. More air means more power, apparently.

hmm I see... seems all a guessing game to me really

That's what a snorkel is on a K£ or later. On our bikes, the snorkel is hte wee tube in the middle of the air filter. Again, if you cut it out you get a much higher flow filter.
