self service

Im doing a self service on the bike this winter, Ive already started and cleaned the chain with kerosene (without taking the back wheel off - should i?) and my next job is to do an oil and filter change. The bike has just over 4k on it - im gonna check the K&N to see how clean it is and ill be checking the sparks, brake pads and discs. Is there anything else i need to cover? While riding, theres nothing thats come which has thought i needed to address.

Get this

You don't need to take the wheel off to clean the chain - it's a job you should do regularly.

Get some copper slip grease and when you change the pads, coat the pins in the stuff. It will help prevent the pins from siezing in, especially over winter months.

Squirrel, ive been doing it but not thoroughly - saying that ive done an embarrassing total of miles this year. Im gonna use it for work next year so ill be putting them on then.
