Crash Bungs
 

Umh... slippy roads, a few people have had offs....

Time for some crash bungs me thinks

How difficult are R & G's to fit, do I need a torque wrench ?

Also are the bar end bobbins worth the extra money or would it be better to get some fork / swing arm bobbins instead

I fitted Moko crash protectors aftera recommendation from someone who had "real world" tested them! Not cheap at about £75 but extremely well made :)

Oh and came with instructions containing proper torque settings etc.... so yes you do need one...

I have a torque wrench you can use Fizz so thats no problem.

You'll also need the appropriate tools to get the old bolts off, so you (may) need two rachets or one ratchet and a breaker bar etc.

I'm talking about the straight through engine bolt on the pointy here.

I got a pair of Moko's for my curvy for £20 off eBay! And they are very good.

r and g's were fantastic when I came off my old red curvy on deisel, saved all the plastics oh yes indeed.

not so good when you go hurtling into a car, tree's and a signpost but sh*t happens eh :lol:

I've got R&Gs on my SV1000 (about £70 from NEC)

Didn't get any torque settings - apparantly R&G are not allowed to supply torque settings :?

Piece of **** to fit - much easier if you have two ratchets and two sets of sockets ( I think I needed 17mm & 19mm).

I tightened mine up to just tight enough plus a bit more - HTH :wink:

I had R&G's on my A2 smash and they did well, but the bike hit the central reservation and was totalled. Had the not-much-respected motrax DHMs at the weekend and they did very well at 20mph on ice. It depends on the spill - some bungs probably work better in some situtations than others.

I wouldn't get the bar end bobbins - on the ice at 20mph the bar end weight was totally bent - doubt a bobbin would have helped there.

I always seem to get lightly scuffed front fork ends in a spill, yet never the rear - the SV/most bikes are front heavy so the back ends up off the ground almost instantly. Still probably wouldn't bother with the fork bobbins though.

Definitely worth getting... the bike would be in a bad way after this last weekend but because of the bung it's just a few minor new bits and off the road for a week or two.
