The SOUTH grinds to a halt again.....
Hot news last night and this morning? About 1000 motorists stuck on Bodmin Moor because there was a bit of frost and snow. One old bird I heard interviewed said it was the weather forecasters' fault: the snow was supposed to come on Saturday, not Friday. Of course, it was NOTHING to do with the fact that she probably couldn't drive in the summer, let alone winter!
Meanwhile, the weather-numpties keep on doom-mongering by saying it's "bitterly cold" when, at about 2 degrees, they really mean it's just "a bit nippy". We had that sort of weather on our Catherine Wheel (in October) and none of US had to stay overnight in a Community Centre. And it's like that all year round up in Leyburn. FACT: This country does have a winter. FACT: It has been known that we get snow at the end of November. FACT: Bodmin Moor has been known to get snow. OPINION: The South is full of old shandy-drinking crumblies with Chelsea Tractors, who can't actually drive them. We should immediately send all our Northern Great I AMs down to train them..... (This should simultaneously upset several IAM members AND flush out Southern lurkers on the Pennine Massive thread. I hope!!!) |

I know pathetic isnt it I got some very stern and concerned looks when I departed work on Friday morning when it was snowing, it was at best here in Yeovil what I would describe as a light dusting, yet people at work were panicing and worrying about how they were going to get home. The worlds gone nuts I tell you |
We're not all softies down South you know, but in our defence, you guys have to live with a climate that is usually at least 2-3 degrees lower than ours, generally have snow more often so you have the facilities to deal with it. Anytime it goes over 25 degrees North of Birmingham everyone starts shouting "Heatwave" !!
But I will buy into the fact that we have far too many people driving 4x4's that have never taken them off of the tarmac and if they did, wouldn't know what do with it anyway. In London, a 4x4 is the preferred method to take "Chardonnay" and "Joshua" to school, that way they can not only be safe inside the vehicle, but as it's so big everybody can see it so they don't have to use the mirrors  . |

Well just bare you foreign correspondent here in mind when you are watching the thermometer drop. As in a relatively very short time the temperature here in my mediterranean play ground has literally plummeted by about 20ºC. Just imagine how that much drop would feel to you!
