First bike on scene - UPDATED 27/01/06
 

I've just noticed embee's post in Biking Issues about this first-aid course, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in taking advantage of the 2 for 1 offer?

I know if i had an off I'd be really appreciative of anyone who had the knowledge to help me, so it'd be a great idea for as many people as possible to attend one of these courses. I'll definitely be booking a place for myself...

Plus, we could split the cost between 2 people, and it's a good excuse to meet up with more people from the .org - I was thinking if a few of us from the Pennine Massive arrange to attend the same course we could make a day of it and maybe go for a beer or two afterwards.

Anyone interested? If we can get definite numbers and agree on a date, I would be happy to try and arrange the booking for everyone.

The poll is not a definite commitment at this stage, I just want to gauge how much interest there is first...

oh wait, ive just read embee's original post and ive seen that the course is in Preston,

thats a bit too much of a trek for me but i would be very keen to do one closer to home, leeds, wake, bradford etc

Can't believe that no one has taken this offer up - DO IT NOW!!

Just too far away, if there was one 'down south' would be very interested

Hi everyone, i know there doesnt seem to be much interest in this, but here's an update anyway.

I've so far had one person (simmo07) say they definitely want to come (although he emailed me rather than posting here).

PBx, by your post do I take it you've already done the FBOS course or do you want me to count you as interested in coming?

Anyway, I'll be ringing up soon to check available dates etc. I will post here with the dates the course is running, and also what day I end up booking for me & simmo.

UPDATE:

I rang Lancs Ambulance Service today and made the booking for me & simmo07. We're going on the 24th March and there are still places left on that date if anyone wants to book themselves in and meet up with us.

When I rang up, a very nice lady called Michelle sent me the following information which I've uploaded to my webspace so you can take a look, although you should know that the course fee is now £49, rather than £45 as stated on the FBOS leaflet.

Not done the FBOS course, but spent several years working very closely with Lancs and Gtr Mcr ambulance services. Had loads of training from both of them and A&E staff. Sadly I've had to attend rather more bike RTA's than I would like in the Rivington area :( This course is ideal for bikers, it covers all the basics and all the stuff that you need to know and it's all done in a way that is aimed directly at bikers.
