ATTENTION ALL - PLEASE READ !!

I'm sorry to have to write that vltn (Pete) was involved in an accident whilst riding homewards after our meet on Fri 13th :(

Without going into details he has pretty extensive leg & arm damage (same leg as before :-( )

He's currently in Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford where he had surgery last night & again this afternoon.

If anyone would like details of the ward, visiting times, etc feel free to contact me - if you don't have my mobile no. PM me & I'll let you have it. Equally, if anyone wishes to PM me with any messages I'll print them out & take them over when I visit him.

Finally, this is posted with the full knowledge & approval of Mrs. Vltn.

ok I assume the wards would not approve of a mass of bikers cluttering up the ward but when and where can we go?

I'm local so easy for times / availibility

Details and update on Vltn3[Pete]
After the Barge on Friday night I was going home in the car with Patric and Jamie[Wife took/collected us so as we could have a drink] Driving up the old A130 at Retendon where the road has these priority/give way obstacles to slow you down through the village About 100/120 yds before the last one exiting the village[We were the priority vehicles and traffic coming towards you must give way] Pete overtook us to accelerate
out of the village,a car came round the corner, failed to give way, and caught Pete exactly as he approached the single lane obstacle He had no place to go or time to stop. Hit him on the right hand side taking him out
and he slid down the road and kerb for 30yards bits flying in all directions

Severe injury to his right hand [broken fingers] and his right thigh and leg broken, but with such impact to rip his leathers, his leg was split open and will require plastic surgery They have pinned the leg/thigh and grafted skin from the other leg to try and repair the damage to the right leg When I saw him last night[Sunday] he was sedated/pain killer, and having another blood transfusion but fairly lucid The rest of his body is covered in bruises and he aches all over

I spoke with the woman who was driving the car, she explained that she had seen my car approaching as she came round the bend judged that she had enough time to get through the gap before me but had not seen the single headlight of Petes bike through the lights of my car I must state that my car was coming over a small rise and she may have been partially dazzled by my lights for a second, but by this time Pete and her were both going for the single lane bit of road Pete having the right of way
The lady was VERY remorseful and upset and had stopped immediately

To crown it all the motorist who was following the other car phoned for the ambulance but gave the wrong location and while Pete was lying there we could hear the ambulance going up and down the new A130 and it wasn't till I dialed 999 that they had the correct location

Talk of bad luck and Friday the 13th,this all happened about 10mins to midnight PLEASE ALL BE VERY VERY CAREFUL and consider that a single headlight as on the naked can be mistaken for another car behind the car approaching
