Exhaust Strap problem .....
Hello,
When I bought my bike, it came with a scorpion titanium oval race can along with the standard. Obviously I want to get it fitted ! However, the strap that came with it did not include the rubber part which protects the can so I bought one from ebay ..... http://www.stocktons.org.uk/DSCN1297.JPG It doesn't reach all the way around ! Comparing the two it looks like the one I bought is more round than oval .... http://www.stocktons.org.uk/DSCN1294.JPG compared with http://www.stocktons.org.uk/DSCN1295.JPG After checking though, it seems that the original strap (without the rubber) doesn't reach all the way around either. So my questions are: 1) Does the strap need to reach all the way around to fit properly ? and if so .. 2) What exactly do I need to purchase to get it to do so and where can I get it ? ta Tom |
take the can and a demo strap to any sheet metal workers, it will more than likely cost you pennies for them to knock you one up of the perfect size for your can . I would ask them to fit the ruber you have and adjust the length accordingly.
they will know what i mean   |
Don't know how it is in Jolly Olde, but in the States these stainless bands with the rubber are available at most auto parts or hardware suppliers in 1/2 inch increments. Looks from the photo like yours is about an inch shy. You need it to have around 1/2-1 inch of clamping space to cinch it down, looks pretty bad if you stretch it much. The gap between the rubber bit and the steel part on the one you have looks about right, they don't match up exactly to ensure a tight fit.
Previous post is right on, should be pretty inexpensive. Leaves you enough for foam ear plugs for those longer rides. |
