Buying a new bike is it worth waiting for new Reg?
looking to buy a sv650s I have found a good deal .
I have been told that I can have the bike registered now on a 55 or wait to 1st march for 06 plate at same price . Will the plate make any difference to to its resale value ? Also re 2 years free servicing , do i have to have bike serviced where I bought it from or can I use a local Suzuki dealer? Cheers Steve |
Yes it will make a small difference and the later plate will be far easier to sell. I waited in 03 for the new plate in March, and as it's only a month away I suggest it would make a lot of sense (particularly as February is pretty miserable anyway).

I'd wait for the new plates to come out and then buy a brand new one on the previous plate at a cheaper price than they are at the moment.

and if you go to a bike meet place and have a 06reg days after they came out yourll look really cool!!! 8)
id wait but the wait would kill me lol |
I have just ordered a new bike for Feb 18th delivery. I've never know the reg to make a scrap of difference since it all changed to twice a year. It also means I can get it run in and beat the rush for the first servicing.

As Jonboy says, if it's making no difference to your purchase price then all you really have to think about is your re-sales value = which will be slightly higher and somewhat easier.
This difference will possibly get less once you hit that 'critical age' where bikes start selling at pretty much the same regardless of minor differences and extras. So the question really is, are you looking for a short term bike (selling in 2-3 years) or a longer term purchase (so it doesn't matter)? |
