advice required on size of garage

if you remember a while back i asked about a prefab garage

now i've been told a concrete shed would be the best way to go but i need to make sure i can get all three bikes in reasonably easily.. my question is what width / length would you go for? i was thinking about 10 ft wide by 10 ft long? do you think that would give enough room to be able to park 3 bikes side by side?

the access door would be 4 ft wide like a normal house-style door - would this be enough?

i could get the up and over garage door but the minimum length is 15 ft which is too long

10 x 10 is loads of space and a bike will fit throught a 4 ft opening.

if you are still not sure, get some chalk and mark it out in a quiet car park.

4 foot's a bit wider than a normal house door, they're more like 3. You can get an SV through a typical door no problems, though it's tight- mine goes in and out the back door of my garage every day. You couldn't do it so easily with bar-end mirrors, or anything with really wide bars- you'd need to get it in at an angle and get one bar through at a time. It'd be a hassle...

Plus, with such a narrow door you need to go pretty much straight in and out, if you turn the bike before you're through you'll catch the tail on the doorposts.

10ft by 10ft is, I think, more than big enough for 3 bikes.

15 ft min length for an up and over....thats crazy!!

I'm getting one done by these guys you can have an up and over on all their sizes and they start under 10 foot

doesnt appear to be any prices on there - what size are u getting and how much is it costing? Im considering garages at the moment

I was looking at their sheds recently too and was wondering about prices as well. Are these guys really expensive?

I've got their list at home they're doing 20% of at the moment. Also I've got an old cement asbestos garage I need taken down and they're taking care of that.

Def not the cheapest but as you go via local agents you should have a bit of room to negotiate

Cheers for that. There's an agent not far from us so it might be worth a call to see what they can do. We want a workshop about 10 foot by 12 foot and there's a concrete base down already so how difficult can it be!

My mother just got one of these albeit slightly larger than the base unit.

18 foot by 10 foot with an up and over door and a single door at rear and a window was a total of 1,900 ish. and some of that cost was disposal of the old asbestos one :oops:


but my mother had a friend lay the concrete base.

took them an afternoon to build :lol:
