Cartoons and religion
.
|
sorry, have I missed something here??
|
Well you see they think it's ok to say that blowing up people is alright. But a drawing? Oh no no.
Anyone whos outraged by the cartoon (who lives in the west, anyway) is a complete idiot utterly detached from reality. |
oh, right.
I was doing an oil change and stuff like cleaning the house. |
Yup.A case of mountains and molehills.Or has Mohammad gone to the mountain?
This is one of the clearest examples of why fundamentalist religeon of any creed seems to be unable to live alongside liberal democracy. |
Bloody moron. Who cares its a picture!!
|
OK it does seem silly to get upset over a cartoon, but:
THe people who this will offend have very very strong beliefs and will go to extreme lengths in the name of those beliefs (blowing up trains, flying planes into buildings etc) THey hate the west enough already, why wind them up even more ? |
There is a fine line between freedom of speech and religious/racial intollerance.
We see many instances where christians could take offence at cartoons, but simply laugh it off as we see it, for what it is. Not lampooning the religion, but generally a set of circumstances. I would guess 99.9% of those who have voiced their anger at this particular episode have not even seen the offending cartoon. It is simply hysteria whipped up by those with an axe to grind. I have muslim friends, devout. But they too dismiss 90% of what they hear as "fundamentalist" and know it does not have a place in the modern world. |
