A whole pile of engine

So, I'ev got 2 blown up engines in the garage, ripe for picking. Both had spun a bottom end bearing so probably not worth fixing, but still got lots of interesting bits.

One's completely in bits and in good condition- clean unmarked barrels, good heads, etc. It's a black casings with silver barrels one.

The other's recoverable but not quite so good- surface rust on the barrels so they might not take a standard bore piston, and the heads are a little sticky. It's a black-and-dark-grey one.

Let me know if there's any bits you want. I've already robbed all the bits I wanted ;)

£££££££!!!

sounds like your SV has cost you a furtune, and there was me thinking it was a good bike to start with

Hey Northwind

Have you got a right hand side engine casing thats in good condition, the paints peeled off mine by the pipe from the radiator ?

If so how much do you want for it ? and any chance you could take a picture of it and post it up ?

w.steele, these are spares... My original engine's still going strong. Got one off Ebay for the carbs and a few other bits, and one just for mucking about with- I'm thinking of changing the pistons for Busa ones so I wanted a dead engine to practice on, like a med student ;)

Fizz, "They all do that sir". It's the water pump cover, for some reason all the paint falls off- I've got 3 engines now and they all look identical. I'll be getting one coated, if you want i can get you one to do the same with (or if you don't mind waiting, I could get them both done- though it'd be hard to colourmatch anything but black)

I think they could be a bit awkward to replace mind, side-cover off job maybe. Not sure.

I meant to add, there's at least one good clutch in there- the basket's lightly notched but less than mine, so I'd presume it should still work fine. Plates look like OEM and are within runout, as are the springs. I've not actually seen the other one ;)

Hi Northy. If you are breaking them, I am after the little clutch mechanism that translates the rotation from the cable into push. You know the spiral gizmo assembly . for some reason there is a single ball bearing missing from mine. Still works fine, It is just I know it ain't right but can't justify buying a new one.

At the moment the plan is when and if they write off my car to buy a cheap car, then buy another bike. Probably a GSXR-600 and then keep my SV for a commute / winter hack bike. ( I've been told its worth £800 because of the milleage on it ) and then in the summer strip down the SV and tidy it up etc etc knowing that I dont have to rush it as I will have the GSXR for transport so I wont be bikeless. 8)

So if its OK would you be able to get me on and get it coated as I dont mind waiting. If you want money up front that cool just let me know how much you want including posting it down to me once its done.

I've got a Curvey with the black engine cases and silver barrels. So black will be just fine.

Yeah, no probs.
