Insurance Question - Business Use

How much extra do those of you that use for bikes for business use pay for cover? My policy states that I'm only insured to get "to & from my permanent place of employment".

The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of checking it out price-wise when mine comes up for renewal due to the fact that the site I work at is about 8 miles long & there is a distinct shortage of company vehicles available for me to use. That & the fact that I'd prefer to use my bike if I have to go to another site for training, meetings etc.

It's about £50 per year extra, for me.

I added business use to my car insurance for nothing a few years ago

I never added it to my bike insurance as I refuse to use my own transport when on work duties out of principle.

Ebike = nothing extra for Business Class 1 use.

Blimey, haven't thing changed since I lretired from the insurance business. Then all policies covered you for social, domestic, pleasure and your own business excluding use for hire and reward. Very simple.
I have just read my certificate of insurance from Carol Nash and have to say it confused me. I rang to confirm cover and was told I wasn't covered for getting to a place of business. It would appear they made the assumption that as I was retired I didn't need it. It certainly wan't pointed out to me at the time of organising my policy. It seems they are eroding the standard cover given in the past and they pass the blame onto you for not reading your policy which certainly doesn't win any prizes for plain speaking. Beware out there.
