Fairings and crash bungs
I'm getting a set of Suzuki lowers fitted by my dealer next week. I was hoping to get some R&G bungs before then but I don't think I'm going to be able to in time now. (I actually tried to buy some from their stand at Ally Pally, but they didn't bring any for the SV :? ).
I'm assuming you need to take the lowers off to fit the bungs? Is it an easy job? My other option is to get my dealer to fit some OEM bungs when they fit the fairing, but it seems every post I've read on here on here about them says how useless they are! Funnily enough, the nipper in the servicing department who booked my bike in reckons he's heard bad things about R&Gs, and the OEMs are great! What a suprise! Any thoughts? |
i got lowers and R&G on my K5 and they save me a big bill when i come off on the ice
just need a rear brake lever i not fit them the garage did try R&G them self where i got mine from |
The suzuki OEM bung is total pants and utterly useless. What happens is that the bracket wil either bend or the weld will break, which then means the bung doesnt do its job properly and more of your bike slides down the road than it should. Dont listen to your dealer, hes talking out of his ar*e IMHO. You're the customer get fitted what you want fitted. If they dont like it then take your bike somwhere else.
If you are really unlucky the bracket will break and crack your lowers which is what happened to Liz's K5 which causes even more damage. As jonhunt says if you are having no luck get the direct from R & G HTH |
ya the ones that come with the lowers are well poinless
sor a SV K4 he just took it of and a bobin on it bobin would of saved the bike if it was not to the fitin that come with the lowers as it bent as it went down and scraped all the panals?? |
Are you concussed, or just drunk? :)

Catdog, just noticed your location, which dealer have you been talking to ?
If you want decent service and looking after properly and fancy a bit of a ride, then get yourself up to V & J Suzuki in Mudford, tell I sent you and they'll see you alright. |

To be honest I haven't had any bad experience there (yet!!!), and haven't heard anything bad about them either. Like I said, it was just a kiddie I was dealing with so I wasn't suprised when he stuck up for the OEM gear. Gotta toe the company line! He said they were happy to fit the R&Gs if I supply them, but the problem is that I've got the bike booked in before I managed to pick any up! So the question is, is it an easy job for me to fit them after the fairing has been put on? |
I put mine on after i had picked up the bike and yes it really is an easy job. Will do you good to learn how the lowers come off as well!

DO NOT BUY THE OEM SUZUKI BUNGS !!!!, if youre going to get the r+g ones.
i honestly think you would be better having none at all and trusting divine intervention than using the suzuki ones. |
