exhaust stud

How the hek do you get a nackered exhaust stud out?

dirtydog 14-02-06 12:51 PM

yeah part of it is threadless now

If it's not snapped off, you can use a stud puller. Or sometimes just thread 2 M8 nuts on, tighten them against each other then back it off with the inside bolt. If you need a stud puller drop me a PM, mine are cheap rubbish but they do work ;)

If it's snapped off, you may be in what I like to think of as A World Of Pain

My studs came out when I attempted to undo the nuts.

Normally to remove a stud, simply tighten two nuts against each other and then use a spanner on the inside nut. I have a fancy knurled contraption that grips against the plain part of studs. Used it ok on large cylinder head studs. but the torque would snap corroded m8 type studs

tried using 2 nuts together, ended up stripping half the thread off
cheers northy can i borrow it? :D

No worries. But it's behind all the drapes for the spray so I'll not be able to get to it tonight... PM me your address, I'll have lost it again ;)

Oh... it's not the thread I thought it might be.

(Reminds herself why she never comes into the tuning and tweaking board. It's too complicated and she doesn't understand <eyes glaze>).

She shuffles away.
