Fuel Tank Interchangeability

Do all the tanks from SV650s from 03-06 interchange?
Thanks

I'm fairly sure all K3 to K5 will fit, no info on K6 but I'd be surprised if it won't.

K5 & K6 are slightly different shape though (I think).

No no no....

I currently ride a K3 SV1000S, and at the same time I'm building myself a new bike which is mostly K3 SV1000S, but with K5 GSXR 1000 forks (mmmmm...... DLC....), swingarm, shock, wheels, rotors, brakes, etc

Reason I ask about the tank is that the one for an '03 SV1000S is a one-of in the SV1000 world. The '03 nakeds have a different tank (and subframe etc), and all the 04-05-06 bikes use the same tank & sub as the naked. The reason I want to stick with the '03 tank & sub is because it's the only one that lets you fit a gsxr shock without cutting up the battery tray.

So... I though I was limited to getting myself a good used '03 tank, but because they're only on the one model it limits availability. I was going through Ronayers, and noticed the 03 SV1000S has the same part number for the tank as the '03 SV650. The later years of SV650 have different part numbers for the tanks but I was wondering if it was just a different decal set or something. So I came here and figured I'd ask you guys. Now that I know that all the 04-06 tanks will also fit the '03 SV650, I know that they'll fit the '03 SV1000S too.

:D

In all honesty, if you're running an SV1000, I'd look to see if any lager capacity tanks will fit, as you're tied down to about 100, maybe 115 mile tank range.

Hi,
I'm getting between 90-125mi per tank on the '03 1000S as it is now, which isn't terrific but it's not too bad. I'd love to have a bigger tank but I don't know if there are any alternatives out there?
If someone had a banged up tank they wanted to donate to me (for say the cost of shipping) I'd be glad to have at it with a plasma and welder and see if I could get some extra capacity by using up the space beneath the tank, where the airbox would be. That way people with the airbox lid removed or with a pipercross filter setup could get some extra fuel storage.

The fuel pumps in the K5's and K6's are slightly different - tanks are otherwise the same.

Does anyone know if the pumps are the same for the 650s and the 1000s????

I would guess the 650 pump wouldnt need to be as big, but maybe they used the same one for both models to cut cost???

EDIT: I just checked Ronayers, the same part number for the fuel pump for both '03 sv1000s and '03 sv650s
