Newbie Question

Hello all,
I am looking at a 05 sv650s and I will test ride the bike on Saturday. My questions is: I really like the look and sound of the SVS but I am worried about the riding position with the low clip ons. I am 5'11" and I am used to a Kawasaki Concours. I will use the bike mostly around town and the occasional blast out in the county. If I get a set of Heli bar risers will you have to modify the brake or throttle lines? Thanks in advance..

you will most likely find muscles ache in the wrists and lower back at first , but use will aleviate this (it's just discovering muscles you probably aint used before)

as to the cables with risers some careful rerouting may be sufficient but i do not know what the helis are like in that respect .

if you go to the main site I am sure john our admin put some sunrisers on his SVS curvy with some gentle rerouting go read to make sure

6'4" on an sk5, a few aches and pains to start but you can sit back a bit in town, close up to the tank out of town.

Ok for 300 in an afternoon last summer.

(But then again im a massochist)

pretty much had no problems around town at all (apart from the aches already mentioned)

but as a shoulder injury and a lower back problem became more evident i changed bikes to a sit up an beg one.

if the sporty stance of the bike bothers you, try a naked

I think its ace around town. I went for a long road trip last weekend and found the seat quite hard (i have a K3), and speeds about 80 a bit harsh with my unfaired one. Its better in town than out.

6' on a faired K3, virtually all my riding is in london/commuting/general arsing about this great city.

it's great fun in the traffic, you'll quickly get used to the bar position and you will probably not need to put any risers on.

Go naked!
The upright riding position is more suited to town riding as it also makes all round vision easier.A small headlight mounted screen looks good and diverts most of the windblast on those faster runs.As for back and wrist ache, the naked bike is far better in town IMHO.
