Will I Get Points For A Race Exhaust?

Already got 6 points so can afford to get more, if I get pulled is it possible to get points or is it strictly just a fine?

Cheers

Rob

It's not cut & dried, but I think yes, 3 points for a non leagal exhaust, but no points for small plates.

Yeah, and no points for no plate at all.

I thought it was just a rectification notice and a £30quid fine?

Jelster 21-02-06 12:47 PM

Nope, you can get a ticket for an ileagal can, but mostly you'll get a RN and a producer.

If the old bill are having a "clamp down" then 3 points is inivitable, as they will find some way of giving you a ticket if they want to. Not sure when having a black bike was against the law, but they'll stick you for it if they want to

(OK, so that was a bit harsh, but you know what I mean....)

Yup, I was under the impression it was a rectifier at worst- but ISTR that the vehicle's registration can be cancelled after repeat offending?

I got pulled for a small plate resulting in producer and £30 fine, whilst looking at the bike they picked up the renus race can, got a rectification notice and a producer for that as well. The garage charged me £10 for the rectification.

Life gets better and better

Piped Up

Just wondering if anyone out there has a road can with removable baffles and if so has anyone left the baffles in but drilled a big hole in it. That way it gives the impression of a standard pipe with baffles but not, if you know what I mean.

There are so few rozzers out there these days the chances of getting done are fairly slim (providing you don't go to bike meets 'Lord Derby' etc)

Hogzi, I did similar. Race can with universal BS stamped baffle insert (as seen on e*ay :D ) chopped down by 4". Unless they actually remove it at the roadside and realise it's not much quieter in than out then there's not much to prove me wrong short of a dB test. It certainly passed an MOT without comment.

When i got the insert at first, a few mates swore blind it made the bike seem noisier, as it changed from a low boom to a fut-fut-fut that was more annoying. That's my excuse.

DISCLAIMER: Of course i can't recommend or condone this sort of behaviour to any one else here.

I've got one with removable baffle, but there's a road legal sticker on it, so the one and only time i got pulled over (touches wood) he looked and didn't say anything.

Away from topic, but I also have a smaller numberplate, saw someone say they can only charge you 30 quid, is that right?
