Help please, bike toppled over
I dropped my faired K3 SV650 and I've smashed the right front indicator and the brake lever.
I've ordered new genuine Suzuki parts but I need some advice on fitting them. I can unbolt the indicator, but the wires disappear into the space behind the fairing. what do I need to remove to get to the bullet connectors? I've never replaced a brake lever before - is it a simple matter of unbolting the bolt that acts as a fulcrum and pulling out the old lever and then reassembling the same way - or is there more to it than that? Any help would be very much appreciated Chris |
The indicators are easy to change. Are the OEM ones? If so then replace the unit, and in the space behind the fairing you should see a connector. Just plug the new one in and test.

Yup, they're genuine Suzuki items, but when I followed the cable inside the fairing it seems to go up behind the clocks. Is the connector in there, and if so, how do I get to it?

Mine was just hanging there... Maybe you need to pull it down (gently)? I guess yours could be different? *shrug*

They should be there, follow the wire from the indicator about 4-5inches and you will find a white connector.
I Have a set of front indicators if you want one.. Let me know. Good luck! |
Thanks for that - I'll have a closer look for the connectors. Any ideas about fitting a replacement front brake lever? Or is it a piece of p**s?

just unscrew from the top with a flat head driver  put the new one in 8) . o by the way check your rear brake switch located under the front brake leaver, it can sometimes break/stop working after a drop/spill mine did. it should click when you begin to depress the leaver  |

Take the 10mm nut off of the bottom end of the pivot bolt FIRST. When refitting, put the bolt in gently just 'til it's seated, not overtight, then fit the nut to the bottom, and, holding the pivot with a screwdriver so it doesn't turn out, nip the nut up against the holder. |
Thanks for all your help. I'll take note of all your suggestions. I'm just gutted I dropped it in the first place....
