test ride on sv650s k5 today

Been looking to get a test ride on a faired sv for a while , spoke to Highway Motorcycles,Wolverhampton , who said that they did not have a demo , but uncrated a 0 mile sv k5 from the box !

loved the bike , kept to less than 5 k as had 0 miles on the clock !

I was really impresses with the dealer , any else used Highway m/c s?

They want 3830 OTR for a 06 reg svs K5.

I know I could get it a bit cheaper from George Whits , however as I will use this dealer to service the bike , I recon I'm going to buy bike from them

Cheers Steve

Sounds a pretty good price to me, Its always worth building up a relationship with a dealer, that way IMHO they look after you much much more. Also it helps when you buy your next bike if you do that to, as if you go back to the same dealer they'll often do you a better deal.

Enjoy the new bike

Hello Steve

I got my bike from Highways W-ton.

They haven't been great and my bikes out of warranty now so I definitely won't use them again.

Bad points....they charged me £35 to collect my bike from home even though the bike had died on a ride (took home by AA man). The fault was a melted terminal in the ignition barrel which they rectified but I didn't really think I should have been required to pay for recovery. Saying that I think most dealers would have done the same.

There have also been another couple of niggles with them which I won't bore you with now but hopefully, you'll have more luck with your bike and won't need to use them much anyway, apart from servicing under warranty.

Enjoy the bike.....few teething probs but I love mine to bits.

All the best.

Motorcycle, washing machine and television dealers all have to make a profit to stay in business :? Why did you let the AA man take your bike home, he should deliver it to the dealer. If a dealer has to take a man out of the workshop to collect a bike and pay for the fuel for the van, surely he is entitled to charge for it!!!

The breakdown happened on Sunday so the dealers were closed.

IMO if the bike fails within the warranty period then I should be absolved of all costs.

Obviously you disagree but thats what makes the world such an interesting place !

I do :P

the recovery by the AA would normally be made on a working day. I was at Bassetts Pole when a German guy broke down, the AA came and tried to fix the bike, realising it couldnt be fixed it had to go to BMW. the dealer was closed the next day, so the AA man took the bike to the depot and delivered it to the dealer when he reopened.

I worked in a car dealership, no one makes any money out of warranty work. dealers do not get any discount on parts, they get a discounted labour rate from the manufacturer and it ties a ramp up that is already booked for scheduled work

Yep have used Motorcycle Mart for servicing before , very impressed .

I did try them for a price a couple of weeks ago , however they wanted 4000 ( 2 hundred more than Highways)

Will try them again for a price .

Also used Knotts of Stratford before ( good dealer ) however again they wanted 4000

Cheers Steve
