SV1000s / GSXR1000/750 fork swap can it be done?

Hi,

Has anyone swapped their forks for GSXR1000/750 ones just wondered can it be done or would it cost too much and be a head ache?

Regards Paul

Yes:

It's expensive if you go for a late model with radial calipers like me.

It's more expensive for an SV650, because you need a GSX-R front rim + brakediscs (SV1000 is the same as GSX-R, so they don't need a new rim)

On the SV650 you need to relocate the speedosensor, for example like me, to the countershaft. This requires a speedorotor, -sensor and speedohealer to compensate for the changed signal.

The following models is a straight swap on the pointy SV:
2001-2003 GSX-R 600 (not up-side-down fork, possibly the cheapest)
2004-on GSX-R 600 (radial brakes)
2000-2003 GSX-R 750
2004-on GSX-R 750 (radial brakes)
2001-2002 GSX-R 1000
2003-2004 GSX-R 1000 (radial brakes)

Wooow man, that is one hot modification. Really nice. 8)
I like the forks, the discs,...

I also drive the yellow one. Like it a lot.

May I ask how you do it en how much you payed for the swap?

braided brakelines 960 (optional)
brakediscs 3750 (NEW)

All costs are including shipping if applicable, which is expensive for the forks and rim when shipping internationally.

Thank you :D

It turned out a little more expensive than I initially expected, but the looks make up for it 8)

K2, what year/model is it you have?

Just to prove I can be a smuch of a photo-***** as Uthaug:

Though it doesn't look like that any more.

As far as the speedo set-up, far easier now- there's a kit available for about £40 to do the job, removes the need for the speedo healer too. Lovely. Or I'll have my rear-axle modded speedo for sale (for a carbed model) shortly for about half that.
