arse new bike won't start only had it 3 days !

Tried to start my new sv650 today to go to work ,

turned over but did not fire

Tried using a bit of throttle started however idled for a 10 seconds at 1k & then cut out !
Have checked all the obvious , kill switch , has petrol etc .

No warning lights etc showing .

Will need to arrange bike to be recovered back to garage by AA , however to say I'm pi##ed off is a under statement !

Any one got any ideas?

Cheers

Firstly, if it is new, ring up the dealers and get them to pick it up. They may send out a mechanic who'll be able to fix it on the spot.

Seems very odd though.

Can't imagine how frustrated you must be feeling.

Is there something you can do to the pointy SV's to put them into "Dealer Mode" IIRC the bike will then show an error code somewhere on the dash and then that will tell you whats wrong with it ?

I am sure somebody posted about this a while ago, do a search for it and see what turns up.

Failing that a 3 day old bike, I would be ringing the dealer and telling them to come back and collect it

Hope you get it sorted

got home from work still will not start , spoke to dealer who said that they will pick it up .

Got rid of my last bike as it kept breaking down , hopefully its just a teething problem with the SV !

Time for lots of beer tonight to sooth the pain !

Hopefully we get fixed back for the weekend ....

Cheers Steve

Had a similar prob, turned out to be the regulator/rectifier.

I know this may sound stupid but there is petrol in it right? :D

i had a brand new bandit in 1998 and the bloody thing broke down on me with only about 10miles on the clock!
dealer picked it up and said it was a loose coil lead, no probs after that!
