Fitting a fabbri double bubble (curvy) - problems!
 

Hi all,

having problems with the grommets just inside the fairing trim ( and getting them to fit through the top two holes in the screen). Is there a trick, anyone got any tips? Or do I just screw it all together and not care that it is not all as it should be.

Apologies for my ineptitude but i'm always scared of breaking plastics by forcing etc!

They can be right little b@stards those grommets - try a bit of rubber lubricant or washing up liquid to help ease them in.

Also, screw the screw in a couple of threads and push through the hole with the screw. If you push the wellnut it just deforms anyway.

Oh and MattSV! What are you doing with rubber lubricant you perv.

Thanks all for the suggestions, will give it another shot of fiddling this weekend, complete with WD40/fairy etc.

I'm having some problems with fitting one myself... the main problem being I can't find a screen to fit in the first place. :roll: I can't find them around here, and shipping to Portugal is usually expensive as heck, and my "skintness" at the moment isn't doing me any favours... :roll:

Screen fitted, after losing a few well nuts
 

Screen fitted, although I lost a few well nuts (rubber grommet things) down the front of the fairing, so had to buy some new ones. Was extremely surprised that the new ones fit through easily as they haven't had the chance for deforming with time, anyway it's all back together now and looking mean!

Took it for a test ride out in the Ardennes yesterday and think that there was a lot less buffeting (no tables of sandwiches and sausage rolls :wink: ) altough does mean even more weight on the wrists (or maybe I'm just out of biking shape).

So all in all I'm happy.

Fitted my Fabbri the day before yesterday, 10 mins and all was going well until I lost a grommet down the fairing! :rant: Get the screen out again, LH fairing out, catch the sucker, fairing back in, screen back in, all is well! :D

Only got to 60 mph in the meantime (cr@p weather -> cr@p roads -> cr@p traffic) but I think I've noticed the same less buffeting (I'll go with the tiny ham sandwiches, thx) you mentioned. Happy bunny here! 8)

Quick update, 75-80 mph on the motorway with a lot less buffeting than before (it matters when you're around 6 foot tall), tuck down and it's bliss. Result! :D

Filipe..You have my sympathy! On my bike there is a bank of 5 fuses below the screen in side the fairing. You have to remove a plastic protector cover off each before being able to get at the fuse.

It is such a fiddle and I have now donated 3 fuses in to the black hole of the front fairing,which can stay there until the nose cone comes off for me to fit my race air filters! :twisted:
