Hosepipe Ban !

Bah :hackedoff:

Sutton & East Surrey Water have imposed a hosepipe ban in my area.
Big shame as we have one of those oversized paddling pools that Mrs Toad & I were planning to make space for down the end of the garden this summer.
Keeps the toadlets happy :D

I already pay extra on my water bill to have a hosepipe, but now find I'm paying extra for something I'm not supposed to use

So what's the penalty for ignoring the ban - and how would 'they' find out

Oh, the pool is one of these -

We got it from B&Q at the end of the season for £50 - it takes nearly 3 days to fill

Do you get all the people with it too?!!

Mr Toad 13-03-06 03:06 PM

Yep

they appear from all the neighbours houses as if by magic on a sunny day

Some people have even been known to ride long distances on motorbikes in order to try it out

I suggest by starting with a two long planks of wood that'll reach from a first floor bathroom window, from which you can fassion some form of viaduct, eliminating the need for using the hose pipe

Well, they did say it was only a ban on hose pipes

i'm still getting over my water bill :( south staffordshire water £305.00!!
is this alot compared to what you guys and gals pay?

Mr Toad, the wording of the Sutton & East Surrey notice in my local paper stated a ban on the use of hoses for watering gardens and for washing private motor cars; nothing else. My missus was pretty upset when I continued to wash my bikes. :P

Helicopters, "grass up your neighbour" schemes, etc.

Interesting how the Spanish manage to have fewer hosepipe bans than us, isn't it?

Ask for a refund on the hosepipe part of your water bill?

To be honest, it shouldnt actully worry you what the penalty is...well, it will be the fact we will all be on standpipes over summer if people dont stop wasting water. Saying this, there has been a leak just down the road for me, for just over 4 weeks.

Now im not a greenie, but i can see that we are going to be in deep **** if we dont stop wasting water, so i propose that we all bath with a friend ;)

Most of the water is wasted by the water companies themselves - their pipes are choc-a-bloc full of cracks and are leaking like crazy, yet it's us that are made to look guilty:

And where's the money to fix the system? Well they've all been privatised so the money's gone to the shareholders...

what do you do with all that water at the end of the summer?
