30 bhp thingy???

I see mentioned sometimes a 30bhp kit for the sv650
1 Has anyone got it?
2 Does it work, by that I mean does it increase the bhp by 30?
3 Is it expensive and is it worth the money?
4 Is it hard to install?

Thanks for your help

I think that's the restriction kit your thinking of, It reduces your your hp to 30

It's a 33 bhp restrictor, you can get two types of big bike license.

one enables you to ride any bike as long as it's restricted to 33 bhp (hence needing the kit)

the second you pay more and I think it's age related, but you can ride anything.

the restriction can be intake spacers (restrictive airflow).
or carb slides (on the curvy).
or ecu based.

Think that's right, but to be honest, I passed so long ago it wasn't around then.

I sure someone will be along to correct me.

Cheers Mark.

Thanks Mark
That does make a lot of sense, especially as I never really hear much about it when peps are talking about tuning.

Do you know anything about the TRE is it worth it :?:

Yep Rictus is pretey well there:

Pass a test on a 125cc and you're allowed up to 33BHP for 2 years then whatever you want (Hence buying restrictors so you can de-restrict your bike later)

If your 21 or over and pass on a bike of 50BHP or more you can ride anything you want, this is Direct Acess (DAS)

Yea,

I'm 19 and passed my test 5 days after my 19th birthday so I cannot ride a de-restricted bike until 5 days after my 21st bday :(

I'm prob going to buy a new SVS in the next month and will have to pay £100 for an ecu restrictor but at least I can ride my dream bike!!!!

I have a spare ECU for the 33bhp restriction. PM me if you're interested.
Cheers,
Stephen

Which is easier/cheaper to fix and remove?

the restriction can be intake spacers (restrictive airflow).
or carb slides (on the curvy).
or ecu based.

i am picking up my 99 SV650 this weekend. The thing is i am restricted to 33bhp until july. Its either i wait till july or fit restrictors. And i cant wait that long

The ecu is the easiest, but the carbed SVs can't be restricted that way.

be carful with the legitimacy of installing someone elses restrictor, we've been over it many time, do a search, but think about it first
