Microsoft Excel anybody?
Really dull. Does ANYBODY know how to add a column of figures and find the mean in microsoft excel? I can highlight them but what next? PLeeeeese?
|
Use =average() putting the cell references in the brackets e.g. =average(a1:a10)
hope it helps |
use the Average function
eg. =Average(A1:A10) will return the mean of the numbers in cells A1-A10 |
click on the cell at the bottom of the column of figures .. then =AVERAGE(B1:B2) replace B1 & B2 with the cell numbers of those you wish to find the average of.
To insert a row/column highlight the row/column right click then click on insert |
Or to do it quickly select all the figures and then right click where it says SUM=x in the bottom right of the status bar. Select Average and it'll show the average in the status bar.

Thanks for the tips, the programme itself has now been superceded by paper, pencil, and the back of an envelope. Far more enjoyable and reliable and you get to doodle whilst staring out the window.
