tweaked subframe?

so Im messing with my theft recovery bike, and noticed the mount for the exhaust is way too high (maybe an 3cm) for the mount on the footpeg bracket, and there is a gap between the tailight and the rear fender, and finally the little black plastic inserts under the seat dont fit the gap between them and the fram gets bigger from bottum to top. so i think the whole thing is bent down. how much would this effect performance? would it be worth getting a new one (considering it needs to be inspected still) and can it be fixed by me by beating on it, or a mechanic through more civil means? thanks!!

It can be repaired if it's been "altered". Mine was extensively "altered" when after an impromptu visit to some barriers. It's mild steel. However I suggest you take the rear fairing off and have a proper look at it. A good inspection at the paint finish and the welds should tell you if it has been modded in anyway.

If you intend to carry pillion and the sub-frame has been modded, I would think twice before doing so as chances are it will no longer be strong enough to carry passengers.

Sub-frames are up on EBay quite frequently so maybe this is the best option. As you say, it still needs to be inspected.
