Chain and Sprockets???
I've decided to admit to myself that my chain and sprockets are well past their best!!
My question then is this, what chain/sprocket combination would you recommend? What is good value for money and finally, where can i get it? Thanks in advance for the excellent advice i know you will give!! :notworthy: |
Renthal steel front, hardcote rear, Tsukabi gold X ring chain circa £100 from B&C Express or Hein Gericke.
Buy as a final drive kit rather than seperately. |
Stick a larger 46 tooth rear sprocket on, which will mean ordering the naked's 110 link chain - cheapest "performance" mod going.

My first curvy chain lasted 33,000 miles without a scottoiler. So I had fitted the Suzuki chain set. About £110. Only problem, it's an endless chain so the swingarm has to come out. Good excuse for greasing the linkage bearings while you're at it though.

I'm on about 8000 miles with a Renthal hard ally 45t rear, renthal steel front, and tsubaki o-ring chain, plus scottoiler. It's a little worn, but not at all hooked- far better than I'd expected from ally.
But really, it's more sensible to use steel- RK, perhaps. Heavier, but they last forever. |
Interesting that the OEM chain is endless and seems to last so well.I often wonder if the soft link in aftermaket chains is really a weak link and is the route cause of a much shorter life :?:

The DID chain fitted as standard can also be bought with a soft link, and also lasts well. But not really any better than any other quality chain, just like the OEM one.
