Lockstop Damage
My lockstop has received a realy bad knock recently leaving it dented and making the handle bar on the left to come very close to the tank and trapping my finger.
Is it possable for me to just build up the dent with chem metal then sand it down a bit to make it flat. |
No, it won't be strong enough, one way would be to get someone to add some weld to it, however being alloy you may have a task in finding anyone.
there are other ways, but you'll have to ask me next time you see my. Cheers Mark. |
Is it the yoke or frame that's dinged? If it's the yoke, want one? It's just sat in the garage going mouldy ;)
Some people tap a hole and fit a bolt, or bolt on new material. Don't know how wise that is tbh |
Na the frame.

Bummer.
|
my frames the same.
the little spiggot stopper on the frame is dented, doesnt matter though as your hand will never get trapped in normal riding. my opinion anyway. |

How bad can it be before it fails? Mine does stop but it just traps your left finger between the tank, and the tank is realy dented on that side already. Seems like i will need it fixed before MOT time, i cant even put it on the road as it has not Tax either.
Found this re mot: http://www.ukmot.com/bike/2-1.asp By looking on that site i think my bike is a major fail at the moment. |
Riverbank Motorcycles in East London do Aluminium welding. They could weld a blob onto the frame but the front end would need to be stripped.

Piece Ally.
Drill a hole in it and attach using a longer bolt (Front subframe). Cheers Ben |
