Proposed April 8th or 9th Run
OK folks, here's a proposed run. Get a map out and see what you think.
Proposed 8th or 9th April SV Ecosse Run Basic Run Route: Start Dobbies Garden Centre, Cumbernauld (Off A80 Next to Shell Garage Sliproad) Pickup B802 from Cumbernauld to Croy. Then onto B8023 to Twechar. Pick up A803 for 1 mile, then turn onto A891 to Lennoxtown and Strathblane. Head onto A81, head north to Aberfoyle (A821). Stop in main car pack for ice-cream / coffee /etc. The brave / loonies can use the A821 Dukes Pass to get to Kilmahog. The alternative route to avoid the twisty Dukes Pass is the A81 Port of Menteith road. There is a pub at the end of the Dukes Pass near Kilmahog, where a marshall can stop and wait for slower riders, etc. *** Newbies beware the Dukes Pass – blind sharp bends come out of nowhere. TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY IT *** Pick up the A84 at Kilmahog, haul ass north to Lochearnhead. Pick up the A85, head north to Mid Lux. (There is an esso garage called Lix Toll here if you need fuel). At Mid Lux, turn right onto the A827, and head for Aberfeldy along the side of Loch Tay. Head south down the A826 to Milton. Turn right down the A822 (Amulree Road – cue Jimmy the ambulance….) all the way down to Gilmerton. Turn right down the A85 and head into Crieff town centre. (Plenty of parking here if peeps want a coffee / fag break). Pick up A822 southbound which takes you past Strathearn Tyres in Crieff. Stay on A822 all the way (14 miles) back to the A9. Finish up at Stirling Services on the M9. It’s then easy to head either east to Edinburgh, or west via the M80 back to Glasgow for the westies. Total trip for this run would be around 156 miles. I know Nutty hates the Dukes Pass - sorry pal.. at least I factored in a bypass road. |
Duke Pass, Yeah Baby. I didn't bribe him honest, and neither did I bribe him for the starting place Scumbernauld is perfect for me... i'm up for it... Is the weather... thats a serriously long run in the cold (I'm a girls blouse)

sounds good to me ,and its kinda central for most.what about the people who dont /cant start at c/nauld we could meet them en-route at one of the stops(im thinkin hazel /grant and any other peeps in outlying areas)if its more convenient for them .But that will (i hope)suit most that are going to show face.count me in anyway

Spot on! 8) . Nice , bit of everything.
Not bothered what day. Andy |
aye, coont me in as well
|
Cumbernauld isn't a major issue for me for the start.
Would probably head off in a different direction after Crieff (Powmill for a scone with the grannies  and down past Knockhill and home). Suspect the Easties would go this general direction also so I would plan for a group split shortly after Crieff. EDIT :- If this route is a 'goody' I will post the route map up. |
Al tag along to if thats ok .... a got rid of my sv but got another bike and would like to put faces to names.. :)
