not always immediately throttle response SV650N
Hello
I have the next question, i ride an Sv650N (type 2K) (24000k's) with this setup :-high mount IXIL, and everything stock no K&N filter or PC or raising of the tank nothing Now the problem is that the bike sometimes when i pull the throttle doesnt accelerate immediately(1sec or 2sec deley), (a bit annoying when doing wheely you see, when he doesnt response when i want to) so i heard i could pull some wires out of the unit box so he would accelerate immediately (thats the problem, he DOES accelerate very good :D but SOMETIMES not emmediately :? when the trotthle is been pulled) Any bikers heard of that also and which setup is reqiured for doing this, let me know |
Get a good BMC (or K&N) air filter, then get the carbs balanced (basically the carbed version of getting the K3+ ECU remapped, someone will come along and tell you the right word shortly!)
No need to get the wires.... This I think will be to retard the ignition, which you won't really notice! Get a filter and tuned and will be a new bike! Good luck |
how much will it cost me you guys think and what do i specific need?
again setup now is stock except for the high mount IXIL, an if i put a k&n filter in, will i win some HP's? |
New Filter will cost about £35 (€50) and a screwdriver. Lift tank up (doesn't come off) and unscrew top of airbox, take out old filter, pop in new one, screw top of airbox back on and presto you're there. Will need a big phillips screwdriver & Allan keys to remove side panels and lift up the tank.
Getting the carbs balanced should be about £100 (€170). You will need to take it to a motorcycle tuning specialist mind! Win HP on both counts |

Carb balancing can be done on your driveway with some borrowed vacuum gauges for free. 20 minute job. However, new exhaust and filters will mean re-jetting carbs and dyno testing. This will be quite expensive. |
Knew I was getting confused.... These people with carbs! Old Hat, you want a real bike! :D
Re-Jetting was what I was thinking of... Probably confused the poor chap even more! :? New Exhaust, has high level Ixil? |
i have a high flow filter and art end can! no rejetting done and runs great!

What filter you using socomm?
I'd say, for this, don't mess about with filters etc, that's not your problem. Check your throttle action, balance the carbs- and I mean really balance the carbs, bobit might have been confused but it was actually good advice ;) . If that doesn't help try and pin down the problem to exact places in teh revs- if it's usualyl around the middle it implies you're lean and should then look at a rejet. |
Mine was like this and I've read many complain about it. I found mine was too rich, Dropping the needles one notch fixed the problem for me.

so you guys recomend me to put a new air filter in it, and balance the carbs :?: ?
(my garage told me when i bought the new IXIL that normaly nothing should be done to the bike  , it would run perfect with just the new silencer :) , and it does :D , except for the deley sometimes :? ) would that help the sometimes 1-2sec deley i have when i pull the throttle?, and how much extra noticable hp i will have (because we're talking about a lot off euros here you see, it must be a relative 'big' changement/improvement then... ) and isnt it possible that if i should buy a new air filter without the balancing the carbs the bike would run better? or do you always have to balance the carbs then |
