photocopiers I never knew that
 

well,

just had to photocopy a delivery invoice to claim for a short delivery ...

had highlighted on the original the line containing the error...!

and I HAVE NEVER noticed this before... but......

the highlighted ares dont show up on the photocopy .!

I am sure they have inthe past- as a darker area......

but clear as a bell- the copy is like a brand new one ...

is there a techical reason for this you boffins !!!!

Depends on the colour. Light blues don't copy well at all, from memory.

i dont copy a great deal... I thght someone high up in an office scenario with some authority such as yourself would put me right ...!!

it's done on purpose, yellow is the same, it means you can have a clean copy of it, try the pink of green or even orage, they might work, for draw a circle round the proble :wink:

This is why Blueprints are really blue. Cos it doesn't photocopy very well, if at all.

I thought that blueprints have existed for much longer than photocopiers.

also if you hole punch a piece of paper and then photo copy it . .. as if by magic the hole punch bits do not show up. 8)

As technology progressed, this has become a regular occurance. Yes, highlighters did used to show up, but as the quality of the imaging has improved, then so has the scanner. When they used to be a Photocopier, as opposed to the now didgital scnning devices, then they woudl pick up on any shade of tint. Its called background suppresion. It used to be an option on the old photo style machines, now its just part of the digital process. Like said, it will remove hole punch marks etc. Colour devices however, are more sensitive and will 9/10 times pick up any highlighter pen.

Whenever i devise a new or updated form i write MASTER COPY on it in yellow highlighter so that people can copy from it but keep the master safe, one time a divvy photocopied a load of forms & sat there hand writing master copy in yellow highlighter as it hadn't photocopied onto the sheets.

Why is it though that if the quality has improved you still get a splodge on the copy where someone has left a greasy butt cheek mark on the photocopier glass & no matter how much you clean it, it wont go away. :wink:
