Avon Viper Sports

Picked up a puncture on Saturday and my rear tyre was past it's best anyway so I have just had a pair of Viper Sports fitted (ride in, ride out) at Sharples in Bolton. I was well happy with the price and got great service. The tyres already feel good in the wet, brand new, coming back around the M60 in the pouring rain and cross winds.

I add to this post when they are scrubbed in.

How much were they Ratty? My back tyre seems a bit square (Not my fault, Ive only put 300 miles on it!!!)

I found they gripped well, even before scrubbing in.
One thing I did notice, is that they need scrubbing in gently to the edges. I was a little vigorous once or twice and almost suffered for it, but once I'd had it leant right over and cleaned the edges, they were fine.

They were £186, fitted to bike, balanced with new valves. Good price I think thanks to Steve McDonald who recommended them to me. See other Viper post lower down. I used to use Sharples over 20 years ago when they were in a shed at the side of a service station on Blackburn Road. Used to go through a few ME33 ME99's on my old Kwaker 1100. They were good on price then too.

Picked up my puncture somewhere near you. Was fine between Whaley and Macc but had gone down enough to feel it as I left the petrol station at Tesco's. Luckily they had Tyre weld there but had to top up the air at Poyton. Seemed to seal after that and the ride to Bolton this morning was ok despite the rain and wind.

Carsick. Can't wait to start scrubbing. I had already noted your comments from the earlier post. Cheers for the 'heads up'.
