Last night I cried....my poor bike! Sniff Sniff

Well, as has already been mentioned in a previous post about the "little" bit of wind that we had last night. However it would appear that it was more than a "little".

I live in Peterborough, but work in Wales and my lovely new gixxer is parked and anchored in my back garden all week until the weekend when I can give her some TLC. My wife is at home all week and looks after her, and my Staffy guards her when he's at home! However nothing could have predicted the events of last night..

MY BIKE GOT BLOWN OVER!!

Yep, that rights! Blown over. It would appear from the devastation in our little estate (climbing frames uprooted, bins banging into cars, and some trees being ripped to shreds) that we had a mini storm!

My wife rang me to tell me when it happened, was about 5ish last night. Now being 250 miles away in wet Wales didn't sit very well. Luckily the guy who lives over the road, a fellow biker, was summoned and he managed to pick my baby up and move her to somewhere less vunerable to the wind. He commented that I got away lightly with it but will need a bit spending on it to make her better!!

The damage so far it would is the following...or forgot to say that I ordered my crash bungs on Saturday but will not arrive till this weekend and it hit my lawn not concrete!..

Right side fairing dented, cracked and pierced by two bolts on the engine
Right side Wing mirror snapped
Right side Indicator snapped
Slightly dented and scratched exhaust...

<wipes tear from his eye>

*&£% it....

Unfortunately all I can do from sunny Wales is wait until Thursday night when i get home to check the damage for myself and look at the pictures my wife took with her phone that she sent me last night....

I am really worried thought that the handlebars may be bent or the steering damper may have been affected.

Do you think I am worrying unneccesarily? Could it be just a cosmetic as it seems??

Please either convince me to drive home and sort it, or put my mind at rest!!

Wouldn't have happened if you had ridden it to Wales

:( I remember coming out to find mine after it had been knocked over by some idiot who couldn't park... It's one thing to break it yourself, totally different to just have it happen at random.

I doubt the bars will be bent or the damper damaged, but if the bar is damaged I have a K2 750 clipon in the garage which I think is the exact same...

Bummer!

Bars are probably fine if it just fell over.

Doncha hate gravity :D and wind of course...

Indeed.....and in a couple of weeks I do hope to. But weather is too unpredictable at the minute for biking. I am at the moment a fair weather puff however some recent end of season winter gear purchases will change that!

As for the bike....really gutted and like you guys said. Its more annoying because it wasn't anything or anyone did! Apart from Mother Nature! She's obviously not a bike fan....bet she rides a moped and keeps failing her Test!

Have had some quotes now for the bits and looking not to expensive to get her fixed. Fairing apparently can be plastic welded as its just where a couple of bolts that went through from the engine. Indicator and Wing mirror cheap enough....however may use this as an excuse to put aftermarket indi's on. Some little ones... As for the exhaust, was going to buy a new one anyway so will just speed the process up!

What a bloody nightmare but hopefully it will be fine on Thursday when i get home and may commute to work on her Friday to cheer her and me up!
