Porsche in MotoGP
 

It seems that the Zuffenhausen boffins are angling an entry into MotoGP. Even without any top flight race team experience you'd have to fancy Porsche to be on the pace once testing was completed. Porsche have an enviable success record in very from of motorsport they've entered, Footwork and Indy shambles aside. Is this VW's way of outflanking BMW as the Teutonic super brands jostle over who's the greatest? At the least more teams means yet more action for MotoGP and maybe even some rather special street bikes trickling into the hand of us mere mortals.
After all any company that can make a crummy Harley engine sing has got to be good at sorting a serious bike engine from scratch!

VW own Porche? Bah, I can never remember who owns who.

That picture looks a bit like the late 70s, early 80s Moto Morini fairings.
I do like the way that "upside down hugger" continues the lines of the bodywork though.

IIRC Porsche is still "single" :? VW Group "only" includes Audi, Skoda, Seat, Lamborghini and I guess Bugatti, but I could be wrong here.

The VW connection comes as Porsche is the holder of a quarter of VW's entire share offering. This was done to allow Porsche to block a hostile VW take over that might upset supplies of parts to the high sales of the Porsche SoccerMomTurboS [nee Cayenne]. The 20% stake cost €3.3 billion in late '05.

This story smells of rather large amounts of bovine waste to me. :wink: Be interesting if it happened though.

I suppose it can't be bad for the sport getting as many manafacturers involved as possible.
Be nice if we could get more proper bike makers involved first.

I tend to agree with Peter mind, it does rather smell of moo poo.
